"1 AM Great Escape" is a card game themed around prisoners escaping. Players compete to get rid of their cards as quickly as possible, but there is a unique dilemma in that you have to replenish your hand every time you play a card. You can enjoy the frustration of having to replenish your hand even though you want to reduce it, and the exhilaration of playing many cards at once and successfully escaping.

Game Progression

  • Card Play: During your turn, you can play cards from your hand within the range of ±1 card for the number of cards played just before. If you play two or more cards at the same time, they must all be the same number or consecutive numbers.
  • Refilling your hand: After you play a card, you will always replenish your hand. You can choose to replenish 1 or 2 cards.
  • Sneak Pace Rule (Optional): At the start of your turn, you can add one card to the card you just played. This allows you to reduce your hand by one card.
  • Successful escape (win): If you have 0 cards in your hand during your turn, you have successfully escaped and are out of that round. The round ends when a certain number of players have escaped or when the deck runs out and a dawn card appears. Each remaining card in your hand will result in a loss of 1 point, and the player with the fewest points at the end of the 3 rounds will be the winner.

The appeal of this game is the sense of tension you feel as you try to reduce your hand but have to replenish it, and the exhilaration of playing many cards at once and successfully escaping. You need to be strategic in determining the movements of other players and releasing your cards at the optimal timing.
