A 4X game where alien races compete for dominance on a desolate planet

Highly rated 8.0 on the world's largest board game information site, BoardGameGeek ! (As of September 17, 2024)

"The Warp" is a fast-paced 4X board game that can be enjoyed by 1 to 4 players (5 to 6 players with the separately sold expansion set). 4X is an acronym for "eXplore," "eXpand," "eXploit," and "eXterminate," and refers to a style of game in which players use resources to expand their territory and compete with other forces.

After five years of cataclysm and rebellion, you take command of one of the last remaining colonies on the devastated planet Yoltar. Choose two of 16 unique asymmetric alien races and lead your colony on a path of prosperity, progress or conquest. Seize an abandoned warp gate and perhaps uncover the truth behind a cataclysmic event that has engulfed the entire world. Along the way you will encounter other colonies, dangerous wastelands and exiled races with wavering loyalties.

The game features 66 mission objectives that players can choose from depending on their play style. It combines basic mechanics such as area control, card/resource management, and engine building with Eurogame elements to develop a dynamic dice system and a combat system that features bargaining and bribery. It also features team modes for 2v2 and 2v2v2.
